Singapore carrier SingTel looks to have beaten the advanced LTE-A networks in South Korean by rolling out the world’s first commercial 300Mbps LTE-A service on August 23 – that’s tomorrow. To celebrate the occasion, Samsung will be releasing a variant of the Galaxy S5 that supports the blazing fast network speeds.

The new service, which doubles the current LTE-Advanced theoretical download speeds to 300Mbps, is a joint collaboration between SingTel, Samsung and Ericsson. The LTE-A network now covers 55% of the country, spanning the city state’s most prominent locations. According to Tay Yeow Lian, SingTel’s Managing Director of Networks, the telco has accelerated its network roll-out plans and claims to be on track for nationwide coverage by the end of Q1, 2015.

To commemorate the launch, Samsung will also announce the immediate availability of the new Samsung Galaxy S5 4G+, a variant of Samsung’s flagship model that supports the new network. But, this variant will not be the same as the LTE-A model that was available in South Korea, which had a 2K display and 3GB of RAM. Instead, this variant will be similar to the international model, featuring a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display and 2GB of RAM. But, the Galaxy S5 4G+ will be powered by the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset.

In addition, Samsung will also announce the availability of the new Galaxy Alpha 4G+in September, but pricing details have not yet been confirmed. What has been confirmed is the fact that this variant will have a larger 2100mAh battery.
